President Prabowo Subianto ensured the rehabilitation of farmers' rice fields damaged by floods and landslides in Aceh as well as repair of damaged dams.

"Earlier, we reported that many dams were broken, but we will repair them immediately. Then we will rehabilitate damaged rice fields," he said during a visit in Aceh, Sunday, December 7.

"And it has been reported to me, farmers don't have to worry, the rice fields are damaged. They, we will help improve. Also, while production cannot be full, we will send food from other places, we have quite a lot of national reserves," continued the president.

Meanwhile, to repair bridges and road access to facilitate the provision of assistance, President Prabowo appointed Army Chief of Staff General Maruli Simanjuntak as the head of the Bridge Repair Acceleration Task Force which will be assisted by the local government. "Because he has many troops, construction, development forces, territorial troops, so he immediately helps," he added.

The President targets repair of bridges such as the damaged Bailey Bridge to be completed within one week. In addition to Bailey Bridge, the repair of three bridges to open access to Bener Meriah and Takengon is also expected to be completed in the next week or two.

They work and it is hoped that one week they can open. And we are here to continue to open three more bridges, to Bener Meriah and Takengon and above. We will continue to try, we will deploy all the bridges we will repair later, hopefully in 1 or 2 weeks it will be finished," he explained.

The President also ensured that the electricity supply in Aceh would return to normal, at least 97 percent on Sunday, December 7 evening, as promised by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia.
