JAKARTA - Chairman of the PSSI Aceh Asprov (Provincial Association) Nazir Adam asked the provincial government and the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) Aceh to channel development funds for athletes and residents affected by flooding in a number of districts/cities.

"Ethlet coaching is not possible to be carried out in the midst of the current situation. Therefore, the funds that should be used for coaching should be temporarily diverted to help athletes and communities affected by the disaster," said Nazir Adam, quoted from ANTARA, Sunday, December 7.

According to him, the athlete coaching program, which was originally scheduled to take place from November to December, had to be abolished, due to post-flood conditions that were still emergency.

The coaching funds are usually allocated through KONI Aceh and are intended for sports fostered under the auspices of KONI Aceh.

Nazir Adam hopes that the allocation of these funds will soon be realized to support flood survivors, especially athletes who are also affected.

"We hope that the government and KONI can follow up on this request. This assistance will be very meaningful for athletes and their families who have lost their homes or suffered losses due to flooding," he said.

Floods that hit in late November forced thousands of residents to flee and damage public facilities, including sports fields commonly used for training.

Nazir emphasized that the distribution of coaching funds for flood victims is expected to ease their burden, while ensuring that sports programs can resume running as well as normal conditions.

"With this step, athletes who are affected can immediately get assistance and coaching activities can be continued after the situation improves," said Nazir Adam.
