Two Grab Passengers Extorted Rp780 Thousand, Victim Locked From Inside Toyota Avanza Car

North Jakarta Metro Police arrested three men who were suspected of extorting two men on Grab Car passengers on Enggano Street No.1, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta.

Head of Public Relations of the North Jakarta Metro Police, Ipda Maryati Jonggi, said the victim, a Grab Car passenger, had just arrived from Jambi via Terminal 2F of Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

The two victims who boarded the Toyota Avanza type car were extorted from traveling costs of Rp. 780 thousand. Worse, before the victim handed over the money, the perpetrator locked the vehicle's door.

"The perpetrator locked the vehicle allegedly to force payment," said Ipda Maryati Jonggi when confirmed, Wednesday, December 3.

After receiving the report, the Jakarta Guard Patrol Team Reg C and the North Jakarta Metro Police Satreskrim immediately moved to the location.

Not long after, the team found the perpetrator and the victim around Jalan Enggano, then immediately secured the three.

From the hands of the perpetrators, officers confiscated a number of evidences including a metallic black Toyota Avanza, cash, several cell phones, identity cards, and a pair of different number plates.

"The results of the urine test show that two of the three perpetrators are positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine," he said.

Ipda Maryati Jonggi has not detailed the role of the 3 perpetrators. For further processing, the three were taken to the North Jakarta Metro Police.
