JAKARTA - A passenger bus in Cambodia fell from a bridge into the river on Thursday, killing 13 passengers and injuring two dozen others.

The bus is on its way from Siem Reap, the location of the country's legendary Angkor Wat temple complex, to the capital Phnom Penh.

"The unfortunate bus fell in the early hours of the morning in the middle province of Kampong Thom," deputy regional police chief, Siv Sovanna, told the Associated Press, Thursday, November 20.

All passengers on the bus are Cambodian citizens.

Preliminary investigations showed the driver fell asleep after leaving at night from Siem Reap, who usually travels for about 5.5 hours, said Siv Sovanna.

But he did not say whether the driver was among the dead.

It is estimated that there were about 40 passengers on the bus, and the rescue team continued to look for other victims.

The victim's body was buried in the hospital near the accident site so that the family could pick him up.
