JAKARTA - The police are investigating the alleged murder of Siti Khodijah, a teacher with the status of a government employee with a work agreement (PPPK) after the perpetrator who had fled was arrested.
Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the South Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Police, AKP Aston L Sinaga, said the perpetrator with the initials YI, a student of class VII of SMP Negeri 4 Buay Pemaca, OKU Regency.
"After an intensive investigation and pursuit, our perpetrators were finally caught without resistance after a week of fleeing after the murder took place," he said in a statement, quoted by Antara, Thursday.
He said the suspect was arrested by officers at his hiding place in Rantau Alai Village, Tanjung Raja District, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra on Tuesday, June 16 afternoon.
Based on the results of the preliminary investigation, the murder occurred when the perpetrator entered the victim's house in Danau Jaya Village, Buay Pemaca District to commit a theft on Tuesday, June 9 at around 09.00 WIB.
Allegedly panicked because his actions were known, the perpetrator then took a knife that was in the house and immediately stabbed it towards the victim.
As a result of the attack, the victim suffered serious stab wounds to the abdomen and was rushed to Muaradua Hospital before being referred to a hospital in Palembang.
However, after undergoing treatment for two days, the victim was declared dead due to the injuries he suffered.

For his actions, according to him, the perpetrator can be charged with Article 466 Paragraph (3) of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code (KUHP), with a maximum penalty of seven years in prison.
