JAKARTA - Italian Defense Minister (Menhan)do Crosetto said it would be "absurd" if Italy did not continue or even increase its military and civilian aid to Ukraine.
This was said by Crosetto in a meeting with European counterparts in Berlin, Germany, Friday, quoted by Reuters.
"It seems absurd for me not to continue and not even increase, with all the possibilities we have, our assistance to countries that do nothing but defend themselves against absurd attacks and cannot be understood," he said.
Crosetto said it had approved sending the 12th support package to Ukraine.
He added that Italy will help Ukraine's energy supply during winter by delivering power generators.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is known to be a strong supporter of Ukraine, but some members of her far-right coalition are not so.
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini this month warned that Italy could not continue to deliver aid money and weapons "within 50 years."
