North LUWU - Two teachers from North Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi, Abdul Muis and Rasnal, expressed their gratitude to President Prabowo Subianto after restoring their good name.

The two teachers received direct rehabilitation letters from President Prabowo at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, on Thursday morning. Abdul Muis expressed his gratitude and gratitude for the President's attention to the fate of teachers in the regions.

"I personally and my extended family I would like to express my gratitude to the President who has given us a sense of justice. For the past five years, we have felt discrimination, both from law enforcement officers and bureaucracy, which seem not to care about the cases we face," said Abdul Muis, a teacher of Sociology at SMA Negeri 1 Luwu Utara, with teary eyes quoted from Antara, Thursday, November 13.

According to him, the granting of a rehabilitation letter by President Prabowo is not only a restoration of good name, but also a sign that their long five-year struggle has finally found a point of justice.

Rasnal, former Head of SMA Negeri 1 North Luwu who now teaches English at SMA Negeri 3 North Luwu, called their journey to seek justice a very tiring process.

"This is a very tiring journey. We have struggled from below, from school level to province, but have not also received justice," said Rasnal.

He said he was grateful after meeting directly with President Prabowo and receiving the rehabilitation letter.

"After we met with the President, Alhamdulillah the President has provided us with rehabilitation. I can't say anything other than thank you," he said.

Rasnal hopes that the bitter experience that he and his colleagues experienced will not be repeated with other educators in Indonesia.

"Hopefully in the future there will be no more criminalization of teachers who are struggling in the field. Currently, fellow teachers are always haunted that if they do something wrong, they can be punished immediately," he said.

The case that ensnared the two began five years ago, when the Principal of SMAN 1 North Luwu received reports from ten honorary teachers who had not received a ten-month salary due to the absence of their names in the Dapodik system, the main requirement for disbursing School Operational Assistance (BOS) funds.

As a temporary solution, the school together with the committee agreed to collect Rp20,000 in voluntary funds per student's parents. The policy is not mandatory for underprivileged families or those who have more than one child at the school.

However, the internal decision was then questioned after an NGO reported it to the police. Four teachers were examined, and two of them, Abdul Muis and Rasnal, were named suspects.
