The Kendari District Attorney managed to arrest a suspect in a corruption case in the bridge project that was on the wanted list (DPO) of the Riau Islands High Prosecutor's Office who fled in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi.

Head of Kendari District Attorney's Office Ronal A. Bakara said the suspect named Jabaruddin was arrested by a joint intelligence team from the Riau Islands Prosecutor's Office, Southeast Sulawesi Attorney General's Office, and Kendari Kejari with the assistance of TNI personnel from Kodim 1417 Kendari.

"The suspect was arrested on Wednesday night at around 23.25 WITA, at his residence on Jalan Kedondong, Anduonohu Village, Poasia District, Kendari City," said Ronal, quoted by Antara, Thursday, November 13.

Ronal explained that Jabaruddin had been named a suspect by the Riau Islands Prosecutor's Office for the alleged corruption case in the construction of the Tanah Merah Bridge in Teluk Bintan District, Bintan Regency, in 2016.

The bridge project was carried out by PT Bintang Fajar Gemilang, whose director is Jabaruddin.

He entered the DPO based on an investigation warrant from the Riau Islands High Prosecutor's Office Number Sprin 333 of 2022 dated August 11, 2022. Since then, Jabaruddin has been fugitive until he was detected in Kendari.

"In the process of arresting, the suspect had fled from the surveillance of the prosecutor's intelligence team, but was arrested on Wednesday night," he said.

Ronal added, "The suspect this morning will soon be taken to Tanjung Pinang, Riau Islands High Prosecutor's Office, to undergo further legal proceedings."
