Kemendikdasmen Ready To Help Recovery Conditions After Explosion At SMAN 72 Jakarta

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) expressed concern and was ready to help restore the post-incident condition of the explosion that occurred at SMA Negeri (SMAN) 72 Jakarta, Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta.

Head of the Communication and Public Relations Bureau (BKHM) of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Anang Ristanto, said the Ministry of Education and Culture continues to coordinate with schools, the Education Office, and security forces who are currently conducting investigations to determine the cause of the incident.

"We express our deep concern over the explosion incident that occurred in the SMAN 72 School area. Our main focus is ensuring the safety of all school residents, including evacuating and handling victims quickly and ensuring health services run optimally. We wish the victims a speedy recovery," said Anang when contacted by ANTARA in Jakarta on Friday.

Furthermore, he explained that the school area had been secured and temporarily closed to ensure safety.

His party will also support the rehabilitation of affected facilities so as not to interfere with the continuity of the teaching and learning process in schools.

In addition, he continued, as part of the post-event recovery, the Ministry of Education and Culture will prepare psychological assistance services for students, teachers, and other school residents to ensure mental and emotional conditions are maintained.

"We appreciate the quick steps of all parties in the initial handling in the field," he added.

His party also appealed to the public to remain calm, not to spread unverified information, and to wait for official information from the authorities.

He emphasized that the Ministry of Education and Culture is always committed to maintaining the security, safety, and sustainability of educational activities, as well as ensuring full support for schools and victims in the recovery process.

For information, the Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat) stated that the explosion that occurred at SMA Negeri 72, Kelapa Gading Barat, North Jakarta came from speakers at the school.

"We received information about the explosion from witness Zulfikar at 12.09 WIB," according to Command Center firefighters in Jakarta, Friday.

He said officers deployed two cars with 10 personnel to extinguish the scene.

Currently, the blackout is still ongoing.
