PKH Task Force Takes Over Illegal Mining Land In Central Sulawesi

JAKARTA - The Forest Area Control Task Force (PKH Task Force) controls the forest area land used as illegal mining by PT Bumi Morowali Utara (BMU) in Bungku Pesisir District, Morowali Regency, Central Sulawesi Province.

Head of the Legal Information Center (Kapuspenkum) of the Attorney General's Office, Anang Supriatna, said that the control was carried out again because PT BMU has a mining opening area located in a limited production forest area without a Borrow-to-Use Forest Area Permit (IPPKH) or Approval for Forest Area Use (PPKH), both inside and outside the Mining Business Permit (IUP) Production Operation area.

"It was found that there were openings in forest areas that were not equipped with IPPKH or PPKH covering an area of 62.15 hectares, consisting of 46.03 hectares in the IUP area and 15.94 hectares outside the IUP area," said Anang in a written statement, Wednesday, November 5, 2025.

From these violations, the PKH Task Force calculated the potential fines of IDR 2.35 trillion

"From this data, there is a potential fine of Rp2,350,280,980,761," he explained.

Overall, the PKH Task Force has identified 16 companies and validated nine companies that were proven to have violated or entered forest areas without a permit, including PT Bumi Morowali Utara (BMU) and PT Daya Sumber Mining Indonesia (DSMI).

Regions identified and re-controlled by countries spread across Southeast Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, and Bangka Belitung.

On the same occasion, the PKH Task Force also directly inspected the illegal mine site of PT BMU in Morowali, Central Sulawesi.

This activity was attended by Attorney General ST Burhanuddin as Deputy Chair of Steering Committee I of the PKH Task Force, TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto as Deputy Chair of Steering II, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo as Deputy Chair of Steering III, and Head of the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) Muhammad Yusuf Ateh.

Also accompanying the implementing team, namely the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah as the Head of the PKH Task Force Implementation Team, TNI Chief of General Staff Lt. Gen. Richard Taruli H. Tampubolon as Deputy Chief Executive I, and Kabareskrim Polri Komjen Pol Syahardiantono as Deputy Chief Executive II of the PKH Task Force.
