Residents Call Land Movements That Damage Five Residents' Houses In Makassar, East Jakarta As A Result Of Abrasion Of Water Channels

JAKARTA - A total of 5 houses damaged by land movement on Jalan Sumur Jambu II, RT 08/05, Makasar Village, Makasar District, East Jakarta, occurred due to abrasion of waterways.

According to Yudi (52), a local resident, the foundation of his house has collapsed due to abrasion of waterways around settlements.

"The main factor is not from us but from the water channel (the cause)," he told reporters, Tuesday, November 4, 2025.

The same thing was said by the Head of RT 08/05 Makasar Village, Zulkifli. He said, the incident of ground movement initially occurred due to abrasion of waterways, because it was old too.

"This channel was worked on in 1979-1980. Initially there was normalization, it wanted to be continued. Normalization of channels because they are old," he added.

Plt Lurah Makassar, Faisal said, regarding the abrasion of the water channel, his party had coordinated with the East Jakarta Water Resources Sub-Department (SDA).

"The water channel will be followed up from the (SDA) Sub-Department, it will be reviewed. This has actually been a long time, why this can be collapsed, want to be studied by the SDA (Sudin) in the future," he said.
