Open Jaklingko Discourse Expanded To Bodetabek, Pramono: But Maybe In 5 Years

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung opened the discourse on expanding Microtrans or Jaklingko transportation services to the buffer areas of Jakarta, such as Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Bodetabek). However, the plan is said to be a priority at this time.

Pramono assessed that an integrated transportation system such as Microtrans is actually needed in areas outside Jakarta to strengthen inter-regional connectivity in Jabodetabek.

Thus, Pramono considers the expansion of the implementation of the Microtrans will only be considered in the next five years.

"In the long term, the actual Microtrans or Jaklingko is needed outside Jakarta, actually. But it may be in the next 5 years," said Pramono at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday, October 29.

For now, the DKI Provincial Government will focus on improving the quality of Microtrans services in the capital area. Pramono emphasized that improving the system and increasing driver professionalism are the first steps before expanding into the surrounding area.

"Well, what we are currently doing is for Microtrans or Jaklingko to remain as it is now, but improvement must be done," he said.

Pramono highlighted the large number of public complaints about the behavior of Microtrans drivers who were considered reckless and disrespectful to passengers. He emphasized that he would ask the DKI Transportation Agency (Dishub) to take firm action against unprofessional drivers.

"I often get criticism that Jaklingko is speeding, reckless, the driver is judes, next to his brother, his wife, his son. That kind is not professional. I will ask the Transportation Service for such a warning," said Pramono.

Today, Pramono invited regents and mayors throughout Jabodetabek to discuss the integrated transportation system in the Jakarta area and its surroundings.

On that occasion, Pramono admitted that the role of the buffer zone is indeed needed in solving the transportation system problem in Jakarta as an epicenter in the Jabodetabek agglomeration area.

"Because after all, to overcome transportation problems in Jakarta, it cannot be alone, it must be together with existing areas, especially Bogor, Bekasi, Depok, Tangerang, South Tangerang," he said.
