JAKARTA - Foreign Minister Sugiono said President Prabowo Subianto returned early to his homeland from an activity attending the ASEAN 47th Summit series in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, because there were several urgent matters.

"Because there are several urgent things that cause him to return (to his homeland)," said Foreign Minister Sugiono as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 28.

The statement was conveyed by the Foreign Minister in response to speculation that President Prabowo Subianto returned to his homeland early, due to an incident of error in mentioning the name of the President of the Republic of Indonesia by the reviewer of Malaysia's official media event/commentator, during the momentum of direct broadcast of the arrival of ASEAN leaders at the summit.

The Foreign Minister requested that no party speculate that President Prabowo returned early because of a name mispropriation. President Prabowo, he said, went home because there were important things in the country.

The President has also ordered himself and the Coordinating Minister for the Economy, the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture and the Minister of Trade to continue to participate in the ASEAN Summit series.

"Because the essence of these meetings is usually held by the Coordinating Minister for the Economy and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, yes, we were in front yesterday," explained the Foreign Minister.

He also conveyed that regarding the error in mentioning the name of President Prabowo Subianto, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had conveyed to the Malaysian side that there had been an error in mentioning the name of the President of the Republic of Indonesia.

"We convey, we convey to Malaysia that there is a mention of the name of the president, and it seems that Indonesia is not the only one (who has experienced a mistake in mentioning the name of the head of state)," said the Foreign Minister.

Previously, Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM), which is a public broadcasting station owned by the Malaysian government, made a mistake in mentioning the name of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, while reviewing the live broadcast of the arrival of leaders at the 47th ASEAN Summit, Sunday (26/10).

In the live broadcast session of the arrival of ASEAN leaders and world leaders at the ASEAN Summit, Kuala Lumpur, Sunday, the reviewer of the RTM called President Prabowo Subianto as President Joko Widodo.

Not only Indonesia, the error in mentioning the name of the head of state by the RTM event reviewer also happened to Singapore and Thailand.

The RTM realized the mistake and has apologized in writing to the delegations of the three countries.
