Coreng Polri Institution, Commission XIII DPR Asks Former Ngada Police Chief To Be Sentenced To The Maximum

JAKARTA - Member of Commission XIII DPR Mafirion supports the maximum sentence for the former Ngada Police Chief, Fajar Widyadharma Lukman Sumaatmaja.

Fajar will undergo a verdict trial related to cases of sexual violence against minors and the spread of pornographic videos.

Mafirion assessed that Fajar's crime was an extraordinary act that tarnished the National Police institution, and injured the protection of children.

"The extraordinary crime committed by the former Ngada Police Chief recorded a bad precedent in efforts to protect children and women. How is it possible that the officers who are supposed to protect actually make children victims, record these actions, and distribute them?," Mafirion told reporters, Tuesday, October 21.

"The maximum punishment must be given without relief," said the PKB politician.

According to Mafirion, giving maximum punishment will be proof of the state's alignment with the protection of children and women. He emphasized that the judge's verdict would later be a benchmark for the seriousness of the state in eradicating sexual violence against children.

This 'Vonis' will be a reflection of the state's alignment. If a light sentence is imposed, it means that the protection of women and children is still weak. On the other hand, severe punishment must be appreciated," he said.

Previously, the prosecutor demanded Fajar with a sentence of 20 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 5 billion, subsidiary of 1 year and 4 months in prison, and restitution of Rp. 359.16 million for three victims.

This case began with the discovery of videos of sexual harassment against children aged 3, 12, and 14 circulating on Australian pornography sites in mid-2024.

The search by Australian authorities led to the location of the upload in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, which was later identified by the Ngada Police Chief.

Fajar was finally arrested on February 20, 2025 and taken to the National Police Headquarters for further investigation.
