The joint SAR team confirmed that a climber named Jhomas (30) who was reported to have fallen into a ravine in the valley of Mount Burangrang, West Bandung Regency, on Sunday was found safe.
Head of the Bandung SAR Office, Ade Dian Permana, said the victim had been evacuated to the Gunung Burangrang Mentari Post before being escorted back to Bogor Regency.
"Survivors arrive at the Mentari Basecamp and will then be escorted home to their address in Bogor by Cisarua Police personnel," said Ade in Bandung, Antara, Monday, October 20.
The search operation began when the victim reported that he fell into a ravine in the Gunung Burangrang valley on Sunday (19/10) at around 11.00 WIB.
According to the victim's statement, he climbed alone to the top of Mount Burangrang through the Tanjakan Mentari route.
On the way to the nearest post, Jhomas slipped and fell at a height of about 531 meters from the top of the mountain.
"The victim experienced a weak physical condition so that he was unable to continue the journey, then asked for assistance in evacuating to the basecamp and Bandung SAR Office," he said.
Ade added that with the discovery of the victim safe, the search operation was declared complete.
