The Regional Police (Polda) of North Kalimantan (Kaltara) confirmed its commitment to be present in the midst of workers. This was confirmed by the North Kalimantan Police Chief Inspector General Djati Wiyoto Century, during a Gathering with Workers Unions and Labor Unions throughout Kaltara in Tarakan City, Saturday (18/10/2025) afternoon.

The Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Borneo Tarakan, Dr. Syafroddin, Secretary of the Tarakan City Manpower Office Hanto Bismoko, Tarakan Police Chief AKBP Erwin S. Manik and union representatives from SP Kahutindo, KSBSI, and KSPSI.

The Kaltara Police Chief emphasized that the National Police not only played a role in maintaining security, but also became a strategic partner for workers in fighting for the rights and welfare of workers.

The National Police and labor unions are partners in maintaining security and mutual welfare. We will guard the rights of workers and ensure that the resolution of the problem is carried out in a peaceful and dignified manner," said Inspector General Djati Wiyoto Century.

The Regional Police Chief also conveyed the plan to establish the Manpower Desk at the Kaltara Police as a tangible form of Polri's support for the world of work. The Decree will serve as a forum for communication and coordination between parties in solving employment and workers issues. "We will immediately activate the Manpower Desk and coordinate with the Governor to strengthen supervision of the workforce in the regions," added the Kapolda.

Activities that lasted for more than two hours were orderly and full of familiarity. All parties agreed to maintain regional stability through open communication and sustainable social dialogue.

In the dialogue forum, representatives of the union conveyed several important aspirations, including the establishment of the Manpower Supervision Task Force, increasing the frequency of the Provincial Tripartite LKS, establishing Industrial Relations Courts in Kaltara, as well as legal protection for workers who convey their aspirations peacefully.

In addition, the Secretary of the Tarakan City Manpower Office, Hanto Bismoko, explained that the industrial relationship in Tarakan has so far been conducive.

"Over the past five years, there have been no major rallies due to strong communication between workers, the government, and the security forces," he concluded.
