JAKARTA - Indonesian Minister of Culture Fadli Zon received a visit from the Chancellor of the University of Insan Cita Indonesia, Laode M. Kamaluddin, at the National Museum of Indonesia, Jakarta, Thursday, October 9. This meeting is the first step in strategic cooperation between the academic world and the government in utilizing data science, digital communication, and informatics for national cultural development.

Fadli emphasized the importance of digital transformation in the cultural sector. He said the Ministry of Culture already has the Directorate of Digital Culture Development as a form of the government's seriousness in filing and preserving Nusantara cultural assets.

"We have extraordinary cultural assets throughout Indonesia. Therefore, digitization is an important step so that all of these heritages can be documented and accessed by the wider community," said Minister Fadli.

According to him, technology is not just a documentation tool, but also an educational tool that is able to make culture more interactive and attractive to the younger generation. He gave an example of the use of AR (Augmented Reality) and VR (Virtual Reality) technology to provide new experiences in cultural learning.

The Chancellor of Laode M. Kamaluddin welcomed the initiative. He assessed that digitalization can strengthen regional museums as well as introduce local potential to the national and global levels. We can use artificial technology and intelligence (AI) to enrich the digital content of museums in the regions. That's also what we are developing on campus," explained Laode.

During the meeting, Minister Fadli was accompanied by Special Staff for Media and Public Communication Muhammad Asrian Mirza and Expert Staff for Inter-Ismunandar Institutional Relations.

Furthermore, Fadli emphasized the importance of cross-agency synergy so that cultural digitization programs become national movements. "We need to deepen discussion and build teamwork to the provincial level so that the results are real and sustainable," he concluded.
