3 Months Lost, Victims Of The Tunu Pratama Jaya KMP Tragedy Found In Bali

PASURUAN - The body of a resident of Pasuruan City, East Java who was a victim of the tragedy of the sinking of the Tunu Pratama Jaya Passenger Motor Ship (KMP) in the waters of the Bali Strait on July 2, 2025, was found dead after three months missing. The victim named Muhammad Syakur, a resident of Krapyakrejo Village, Gadingrejo District.

The victim's sister, Zakhiyah, confirmed that the body that was found was her brother. He recognized it through personal items found on the victim's body.

"We recognize the KTP, SIM, and ATM that are still in the bag. After the DNA test results are also suitable, we are sure it's our brother," said Zakhiyah Lirih, Thursday, October 9.

When found, the condition of the body was not intact, but there were still a number of identification evidence such as an ID card, driver's license, and an ATM card in the bag attached to the victim's body.

The discovery of the body began with reports of local fishermen who saw suspicious objects stranded on the beach. After being approached, fishermen found the human body in a pathetic condition.

The police and the SAR team who came to the location then evacuated the bodies and took them to a hospital in Bali for identification.

The results of the DNA test of the victim's family conducted by the police showed a match with Muhammad Syakur's data.

After the identification process was completed, the body was immediately returned to the funeral home in Pasuruan City on Tuesday (7/10/2025) night.

Arriving at the funeral home, the body was greeted with emotion by the family and local residents. After praying on the ambulance, the deceased was then buried at the Public Cemetery (TPU) of Krapyakrejo Village, not far from his family's house.

It is known that KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya, which carried dozens of passengers, sank in the waters of the Bali Strait on July 2, 2025, while sailing from Ketapang Port, Banyuwangi to Gilimanuk Port, Bali. A total of 48 people were found dead, the rest were missing.

From the search results, two residents from Pasuruan are known to be victims of the tragedy, namely Muhammad Syakur and Mukhlison, residents of Kersikan Village, Pasuruan Regency. Mukhlison's body itself was found first a week after the ship sank.

With the discovery of Muhammad Syakur's body, all the victims from Pasuruan in the tragic incident of the sinking of KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya, have now been found.
