Prosecutors Demand 10.5 Years In Prison Former West Lombok Regent Zaini Defendant Of Lombok City Center Corruption

The prosecutor demanded that the panel of judges impose a sentence of 10.5 years in prison for former West Lombok Regent Zaini Arony in a corruption case in the cooperation of Lombok City Center development operations and management in West Lombok Regency.

"Requesting that the panel of judges impose a sentence on the defendant total Tanihaha with a sentence of 10 years and 6 months in prison," said Hasan Basri representing a team of public prosecutors reading out the charges at the Corruption Court at the Mataram District Court, NTB, Monday.

In addition to the criminal sentence, the prosecutor asked the judge to impose a fine of Rp. 1 billion, subsidiary to 6 months in prison to replace the fine.

In the indictment, the prosecutor did not charge the defendant to pay compensation for state financial losses worth Rp39.3 billion.

The prosecutor said that some state financial losses of Rp. 1.3 billion had been borne by the defendant total Tanihaha as Director of PT Bliss Pembangunan Sejahtera who carried out operational cooperation with PT Tripat, a Regional Owned Enterprise (BUMD) owned by the West Lombok Regency Government (Pemkab).

Meanwhile, the loss of Rp. 38 billion was deemed to have been returned in the form of confiscation of a land certificate covering an area of 4.72 hectares belonging to the West Lombok Regency Government which was previously operated by PTbanis Pembangunan Sejahtera to Bank Sinarmas for initial capital for the construction and management of the LCC.

The prosecutor gave such a claim by stating that the defendant's actions were proven to have violated the primary indictment containing Article 2 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law no. 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption jo. Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code.

The considerations that incriminate the defendant were charged with a sentence of 10.5 years in prison regarding the value of state financial losses which appeared amounting to Rp39.3 billion and the status of the defendant Zaini Arony as a recidivist in a corruption case of extortion of investors while serving as Regent of West Lombok with a sentence of 7 years in prison.

In operational cooperation between PTbanis Pembangunan Sejahtera and PT Tripat as a Regional Owned Enterprise (BUMD) of West Lombok Regency which took place in 2013.

The defendant's legal adviser, Hijrat Prayitno, in the trial stated that he would file a memorandum of defense for the prosecutor's demands.

After hearing the defendant's legal adviser's response, the panel of judges chaired by Ary Wahyu Irawan set the next trial with the agenda of reading the defense memorandum on October 2, 2025.
