People's School Adds 65 Points, Social Minister Says Operating All Ends Of September 2025

JAKARTA - Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Saifullah Yusuf or Gus Ipul revealed the latest developments in the People's School program which is targeted to reach 65 units by the end of this month.

Gus Ipul said that in the next one to two days there will be 16 points of People's Schools starting operations, while around 40 other units are targeted to follow by the end of September.

"God willing, in one to two days there will be 16 points that will start operating, the remaining 40 will be at the end of September," he said at the Presidential Palace complex, Jakarta, Friday, which was confiscated by Antara.

Gus Ipul acknowledged that the biggest challenges in accelerating this program were the fulfillment of infrastructure, teacher selection, school principals, and student admissions.

"However, through the spirit of mutual cooperation and cross-ministerial cooperation, including the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, the Ministry of PUPR, the Ministry of Home Affairs, to the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture, all obstacles can be overcome," added Gus Ipul.

Gus Ipul said that this People's School is spread in almost all parts of Indonesia, from Java Island which has around 69 points to Sulawesi and various other islands, so that access to startup education can be felt more evenly.

"We can reach almost evenly on each island for this startup school," he said.

Previously reported, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto again added 65 units of People's Schools targeted to be completed later, not this, so that the total number of schools operating will reach 165 units.

The Head of State after reviewing the implementation of the 10 Margaguna High School (SRMA), South Jakarta, Thursday (11/9), hopes that the People's School can increase by 100 each year in order to provide decent education to the underprivileged.

"I got a report at the end of September, 2 weeks, 3 weeks will be 165 People's Schools. God willing, I will be asked to inaugurate it in October," said the President.

The President said the government plans that the People's School not only for the people of decile 1, but also accessible to residents with a decile economic welfare level of 2 to 5.
