JAKARTA - US President Donald Trump said law enforcement officials had arrested suspected shooting conservative activist Charlie Kirk while attending a university in Utah.
"I think we have arrested him," Trump told Fox News.
Trump said someone who recognized Kirk handed over the perpetrator to the police. But there are no details regarding the arrests or the results of the interim interrogation regarding the motive for the shooting.
Kirk, 31, a podcast-radio commentator and influential supporter of Donald Trump, is considered to have contributed to building a young voter base for the Republican president.
He was shot dead on Wednesday, an event that Utah Governor Spencer Cox considered political murder.
The recorded killings quickly spread on social media, taking place during a day-day event attended by 3,000 people at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.
In one video recording, blood appears to be pouring out of Kirk's neck right after the shot was heard. Kirk was loaded in his chair.

His murder immediately sparked outrage and condemnation of political violence from the Democratic Party and Republicans.
Cox said Kirk's events on campuses were part of a fundamental open political debate tradition for citizens' constitutional rights
"When a person takes someone's life because of his ideas or ideals, the constitutional foundation itself is threatened," Cox said.
