JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian emphasized that the law enforcement process in the case of the death of online motorcycle taxi driver (ojol) Affan Kurniawan was carried out openly and transparently.

"The law enforcement process is already underway, and the National Police Chief will ensure that everything is done openly and transparently," Tito said in a statement in Jakarta, Tuesday, quoted by Antara.

In addition to the transparency of law enforcement, Tito also emphasized President Prabowo Subianto's commitment to reduce the grief of the Affan family by giving home.

During his lifetime, Affan was known to work hard to realize the dream of buying a house for his mother.

"Mr. President has assigned the Minister of Housing to prepare a house because the deceased's dream is to buy a house for his mother. Even though he cannot replace the deceased's departure, at least his noble ideals can be realized," explained Tito.

The house provided by the government is expected to serve as a reminder that Affan's struggle was not in vain, as well as a form of state empathy in accompanying the families of the victims.

This tragedy is a deep sorrow, not only for the family, but also for the government, this was shown by President Prabowo Subianto who made a pilgrimage to the funeral home of the late Affan Kurniawan in Jakarta, Friday night, August 29, to meet the families of the victims and give them a house, which was Affan's dream for his mother, Herlina.

The President arrived at the funeral home, which is a 3x11 meter rented house in the Menteng area, Central Jakarta, at 21.50 WIB, to directly convey their condolences to the family, as well as listen to their complaints and hopes.

Affan Kurniawan died because he was run over by a Barracuda tactical vehicle belonging to Brimob Polri in the Jalan Purification I area, Bendungan Hilir, Central Jakarta, on Thursday, August 28 evening.

Affan was declared dead when he was taken to RSCM, Central Jakarta.

The seven police officers inside the Barracuda have now been named suspects and detained. Their examination was carried out by the Propam Division of the National Police Headquarters.
