Campak Outbreak In Sumenep, Deputy Minister Of Health Guarantees Safe Vaccines To Be Tested Clinically

Deputy Minister of Health (Wamenkes) Dante Saksono Harbuwono appealed to all Indonesians not to worry about carrying out vaccinations, because vaccines have been clinically tested and guaranteed to be safe.

"The vaccinations that we have given to the community have been studied empirically, for a long time, so it is safe," said the Deputy Minister of Health as reported by ANTARA, Monday, August 25.

Dante said that there are various factors that people are still afraid to carry out vaccines, some of which include reasons related to religion, as well as concerns about side effects.

According to him, the lack of public compliance in carrying out vaccinations can cause a certain disease outbreak, such as the waiver outbreak in Sumenep, East Java.

"If the nutrition is lacking, the immunity is low, easy to get other diseases, easy to get sick in children, such as breathing," he said.

Therefore, Dante emphasized that the government has now required 14 different types of vaccines that must be accepted by every community, in order to reduce the risk of people suffering from disease.

"So this will have an impact on the development and health of the community, especially the child's developmental body," said Dante Saksono Harbuwono.

It is known, the case of thecampus outbreak in Sumenep, East Java, has been declared a KLB, because 17 people died. In addition, there were also 2,035 suspected cases spread across 26 sub-districts.

As many as 78,569 children in Sumenep were targeted by Measles vaccination to prevent the spread of this type of disease.

All children who were targeted for theUM vaccine, aged nine months to six years, with an implementation of 21 days, from August 25 to September 14, 2025.

Currently, the number of vaccines currently available for the mass vaccination program is around 18 thousand vials, equivalent to more than 80 thousand doses.

In addition to 26 puskesmas, vaccinations to handle the KLB of thecampus case will also be held at several auxiliary health centers in Sumenep.
