Koster Rejects Kasino Development In Bali Despite Being Accompanied By IDR 100 Trillion

Bali Governor I Wayan Koster rejected the construction of a casino on the island of Bali even though he was lured with Rp100 trillion in cash.

Koster said the future of Bali Island is in the cultural-based tourism sector.

"So because of that, Bali must be strong and principled. Don't get light easily, make this, make it. We just defend culture. Because there is no rival about culture," said Koster, while giving directions at the Ksirarnawa building, UPTD Taman Budaya Bali Province, Friday, August 15.

Koster admitted that he was lured with Rp100 trillion to allow the establishment of the casino. But this was rejected.

"Don't think about making a casino in Bali. This means that we are competing with other countries about the casino. I was lured, sir, if there is a casino in Bali, you can immediately get Rp100 trillion," he continued.

"The game is indeed good at IDR 100 trillion. But once we take the wrong step to erode Balinese culture, leave our cultural base for tourism. We can lose more than IDR 100 trillion and will threaten Bali's future," said Koster.

He emphasized that world-based culture-based tourism is only one on the island of Bali. Bali for him has no rivals.

"Traditional branes are only one in the world. So if there is no rival. So we will continue to seize opportunities related to culture-based tourism, just there. So if that's the future, everyone should never falter. About this culture, once we take a step, it is very dangerous for Bali's future," he said.
