Pati Regent Shouted And Thrown With Bottles, Mass Promises To Hold Action Of 50 Thousand People

PATI - The tense atmosphere colored the first meeting of the Regent of Pati, Sudewo with a mass of action at the Pati Bersatu Community Alliance post, Monday, August 11. The meeting which took place in the Pati Square area was colored by cheers from residents, even throwing mineral water bottles.

Sudewo came with local government officials to hear directly the residents' complaints. However, when he arrived at the location, he was greeted with screams and protests regarding the policy of increasing Land and Building Land Taxes and Urban Areas (PBB-P2) by 250%, even though the policy had been canceled.

In front of the regent, residents urged Sudewo to attend the follow-up action which will be held on August 13, 2025. Around 50,000 people are said to be gathering. The sound of protests was loud, making the atmosphere even hotter.

To prevent chaos, the authorities and the security team finally withdrew Sudewo from the crowd. The moment occurred after throwing a mineral water bottle that almost hit the regent.

Responding to the situation, Sudewo emphasized that the demands related to the increase in the PBB-P2 had been officially canceled. He also said that other demands related to education, namely the 6-day meeting had been met.

"The logic is already finished, what else do you want to demand? So I invite you to exercise restraint and create an atmosphere of peace," said Sudewo after meeting the masses.

Supriyono, one of the representatives of the action, denied that this movement was triggered by certain political interests or groups. According to him, community support is purely due to disappointment with the regent's policy.

In fact, Supriyono admitted to being Sudewo's supporters during the last election campaign, until he won a big vote in his village. However, he was disappointed because he felt that the campaign promise was not kept, especially regarding regional taxes.

"I myself support Mr. Sudewo, even in my village, the second most in Margorejo District after Sukobubuk. I don't hate Pak Sudewo, but I hate his policies, arrogant, fraudsters," he said.

To the same day, more than 14,000 cartons of mineral water were collected from non-governmental organizations, both individually and in groups. This support is a symbol of citizen solidarity in voicing their aspirations.
