After The Ciliwung River, Pramono Ragu Makes The Waterway Route

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung expressed his doubts about operating river or waterway transportation in Jakarta.

He revealed this after walking along the Ciliwung River from the Manggarai Water Gate to the riverside beside BNI City Station.

The route after the river that Pramono carried out this afternoon is known to be almost similar to the waterway route that had operated during the leadership of former DKI Jakarta Governor Sutiyoso.

"So this place was actually designed to be an alternative waterway in Jakarta. But indeed the route cannot be too long," said Pramono at BNI City Station, Central Jakarta, Thursday, July 31.

In addition, Pramono also doubts about the smooth operation of the waterway, if you look at the unstable water level on the Ciliwung River because it depends on the dynamics of rainfall.

"The rainfall in Jakarta is between dry time and when it rains it's really extreme. If it's dry for a long time, actually the water here almost doesn't exist," said Pramono.

"Well, that's the problem if we make this a place for a waterway," he added.

For information, during the 2024 Pilkada campaign period, there was a discourse to resume operating water transportation in Jakarta by a candidate for the Governor of DKI.

At that time, Ridwan Kamil initiated that he would build a riverway using a boat that crosses 13 rivers in Jakarta if elected governor of DKI. Meanwhile, Pramono discussed the riverway carrying passengers in the waters of the Thousand Islands.
