Puan Ensures DPR Guards Rewriting History To Trump's Policy On US Trade Rates

Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, ensured that the Indonesian House of Representatives continues to carry out its supervisory functions on various issues that have a broad impact on the community. Including plans to rewrite national history books to the trade tariff policy of the United States (US) on Indonesia.

This was conveyed by Puan in her speech at the Plenary Meeting of the Closing of the Fourth Session Period of the 2024 '2025 Session Year at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, July 24.

In implementing the supervisory function, said Puan, the Indonesian House of Representatives through the Council's Apparatus has held various meetings related to the problems faced by the people.

Puan said that the plan to rewrite Indonesian history books was one of the important issues guarded by the DPR. This is because re-renewing history is important in the context of cultural development and national identity.

At the same time, the DPR is also monitoring the implementation of the US (US) reciprocal tariff on Indonesia, which has strategic implications for trade relations and national economic positions.

"The application of American reciprocal rates to Indonesia, supervision of the rise of mixed rice, supervision of the application of restorative justice in accordance with the principles of justice," said Puan.

Puan also ensured that the DPR was guarding the issue of wiretapping by the Attorney General's Office in order to maintain public privacy spaces.

"Supervision of the wiretapping mechanism by law enforcement officials, rearrangement and management of all islands in Indonesia, plans to rewrite history books," added Bung Karno's grandson.

In addition, Puan said the DPR oversees other issues that also have an impact on the community, such as the evaluation of health services in 3T areas, online trade tax policies, as well as supervision of the application of restorative justice and wiretapping mechanisms by law enforcement officials.

"Evaluation of access to health services and equitable distribution of health workers in Remote, Border, and Islands Regions (DTPK), evaluation of recipients of social assistance indicated online gambling, evaluation of the New Student Admission System (SPMB) in 2025, evaluation of the implementation of the online trade income tax collection policy," continued Puan.

The former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture also said that the DPR would continue to oversee the evaluation of the implementation of Hajj so that it would be more in future service. Puan ensured that the DPR had attention to workers in mining companies.

"Evaluation of the implementation of the Hajj pilgrimage in 2025. Evaluation of occupational safety in mining companies," he said.

Puan also explained a number of things that the DPR had done during this trial. One of them, the DPR approved the determination of the Investment Management Agency (BPI) Daya Anagata Nusantara (Dantara) in relation to the Management of the BUMN Operational Holding as a partner of Commission VI.

The DPR also approved the Investment Management Agency (BPI) Daya Anagata Nusantara (Dantara) and Investment Holding Management including state assignments to ensure smooth distribution of goods/services for the community and maintain price/economic stability, as partners of Commission XI.

"This step is a follow-up to carrying out the supervisory function of the DPR RI regarding the implementation of the Law on State-Owned Enterprises," concluded Puan.
