Dozens Of Ketapang-Gilimanuk Crossing Ships Need Repair

JAKARTA - The team from the Directorate General of Sea Transportation (Hubla) of the Ministry of Transportation for the sudden inspection of motor boats crossing (KMP) operating on the Ketapang Port (Banyuwangi) - Gilimanuk Port (Bali), and 15 of them must be repaired.

"The team from the center conducted an inspection of the ships on the Ketapang-Gilimanuk route, after we received the results on Monday (14/7), 15 ships must immediately correct the shortcomings on the ship," said Head of Harbormaster and Port Authority Class III Tanjung Wangi, Banyuwangi Purgana, Wednesday, July 16.

Dari hasil pemeriksaan 15 kapal yang melayani di Dermaga LCM Pelabuhan Ketapang itu, lanjut dia, saat ini hanya ada dua kapal yang beroperasi dan satu lagi kalandas.

"Of the two ships that were allowed to operate, it turned out that one ship ran aground, only one was operating at the LCM, resulting in a buildup of logistics trucks at Ketapang Port," said Purgana as quoted by ANTARA.

His party has coordinated with the center to find a way out or solution to build up logistics trucks at Ketapang Port, without ignoring safety.

"From the results of the central team's inspection, a number of ship operators have submitted and have been fulfilled, and we re-checked. Of the several ships that have been re-checked, today they will be assisted to transport logistics trucks to disentangle passengers," said Purgana.
