Police Examine 6 Witnesses In The Case Of Elementary School Children's Death Being Beaten

Makassar Police Criminal Investigation Unit investigators have examined six witnesses related to the alleged beating of Muhammad Raja Afnan, who eventually died on Friday (30/5) at the Faisal Islamic Hospital in Makassar, South Sulawesi.

"There are still six people being examined because the information is maximal. So, why are there many witnesses when they have been examined optimally," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Makassar Polrestabes AKBP Devi Sujana as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, June 24.

The handling of the case continues to immediately get a bright spot, including the determination of the status of the suspect.

"Hopefully this week there will be follow-up (following up from investigators)," he said.

The police are still waiting for the results of the forensic laboratory (labfor) after the victim was autopsied by a team from the Bayangkara Hospital. Subsequently, further action was taken to investigate the case.

"So, there were several body organs that were autopsied by the hospital, then sent to the laboratory. Now they are still waiting for the results of the lab. So, later let's sync the results of the autopsy and the lab as well," said the former Head of Sub-Directorate 1 of the Lampung Police Ditreskrimum.

Previously, a class VI student at SDN Maccini Sawah Satu, Makassar City named Muhammad Raja Afnan died, Friday (30/5), after receiving 5 days of treatment at three different hospitals, allegedly after being beaten by a friend.

"Before he died in the hospital, I asked, who hit him? Afnan said friends. I asked how many people? He didn't say, but gave him three fingers," said the aunt of the victim Desma in Makassar, Saturday (31/5).

The victim said there were two elementary school students and one junior high school student. But the victim did not mention his name, but knew the alleged perpetrators.

The incident of alleged mistreatment together occurred last week after the victim took the final exam at SDN Maccini Sawah Satu.

He is the third of six children. The victim is suspected of having chest pain, and there are bruises on several parts of his body, as well as scars from cigarette suggestion.

The victim was taken to three hospitals, namely Pelamonia Hospital, Sitti Fatimah Hospital, and referred to RSI Faisal.

Because his condition was decreasing, the victim breathed his last at RSI Faisal.

From the initial diagnosis, the victim was suspected of having a typhoid disease accompanied by dengue fever before he died.

After being declared dead, the body was taken to the funeral home, Jalan Maccini Gusung, Setapak 8, Makassar District for burial.

To ensure the death of the victim, he was then taken to the Bayangkara Hospital in Makassar for an autopsy.
