JAKARTA - Lecturer of Political Science from the University of Indonesia Cecep Hidayat said that the Secretary General of the PDI-P (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto had never offered his position to his compatriots at the Land University (IDU).

This statement was made by Cecep when presented as a mitigating witness for the defendant Hasto Kristiyanto in the trial of the alleged bribery case for the management of the replacement between the time (PAW) of the DPR for the 2019-2024 period and the obstruction of Harun Masiku's investigation.

Initially, Hasto Kristiyanto's attorney, Maqdir Ismail, directly questioned whether his client had ever offered positions to his colleagues who were members of the TNI.

"Have you never heard that he offered positions to other friends? For example, the one in the same class, did he, who was the witness, say that he came from the army, navy, and air force to get certain positions. Remembering Pak Hasto's close relationship with certain officials in this country at that time?" asked Maqdir during a trial at the Jakarta Corruption Court, Friday, June 20.

Cecep then stated that he did not hear this. Because, Hasto and his campus colleagues are limited to gathering and talking.

"As far as I know, it's never been that. So what it does, it comes, discusses, chats, eats, drinks, maybe yes. That's all, or the sport is most probably now and even continues," he said.

"So there's nothing. Because of this, on average they also want to meet asking, do you want to meet? Usually it invites me, for example, I'm also ashamed maybe. So as long as I know there's nothing," continued Cecep.

In addition, during his friendship with Hasto, the activities that were often carried out by the Secretary General of PDIP together discussed geopolitical matters.

However, Cecep found out that Hasto had complained because his name was used or used by an irresponsible party to promise someone else a position.

However, he did not question further about this matter. The reason is because it feels it is not his authority to know.

"So this is it, if it's never been to me. But Mr. Hasto has complained about what to make, what to call it, using my name. Maybe because of this, this is a person who doesn't have the heart either, Mr. Hasto may not have the heart, or he also uses it, what is it, "he said.

"Anyway, it looks like it's not good, so I've complained about it, it's used by the name. But I don't want me to ask too far to ask further," continued Cecep.

In this case, Hasto together with advocate Donny Tri Istiqomah, former PDIP cadre Saeful Bahri, and Harun Masiku were charged with giving bribes of Rp 600 million to Wahyu Setiawan (KPU commissioner) in the 2019-2020 period.

This bribe is so that Wahyu seeks the KPU to approve the application of PAW for the South Sumatra Election Candidate (Sumsel) I on behalf of DPR Members for the 2019-2024 period Riezky Aprilia to Harun Masiku.

Hasto was also charged with obstructing the investigation by ordering Harun, through the Aspiration House guard, Nur Hasan, to submerge Harun's cell phone into the water after the KPK OTT incident against Wahyu Setiawan.

Not only Harun Masiku's cellphone, Hasto is also said to have ordered his aide, Kusnadi, to drown his cell phone in anticipation of forced attempts by KPK investigators.

Hasto was charged with Article 21 and Article 5 paragraph (1) letter a or Article 13 of Law (UU) Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended and supplemented by Law Number 20 of 2001 in conjunction with Article 65 paragraph (1) and Article 55 paragraph (1) 1 in conjunction with Article 64 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.
