TNI Commander Reminds Soldiers Not To Have Practical Politics

JAKARTA - TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto emphasized that his staff should not be involved in practical politics, but must remain on duty to strengthen national defense.

"The TNI should not be in practical politics, but must know state politics," said TNI General Agus when giving a public lecture to 212 Student Officers of the LIII Dikreg Sesko TNI 2025 at Graha Widya Adibrata, Sesko TNI, Bandung, West Java in a press release reported by ANTARA, Thursday, June 19.

The Commander explained that the TNI needs to understand national politics so that every soldier can act appropriately in carrying out state duties.

In addition to having to understand the dynamics of domestic politics, he continued, the TNI must also be sensitive to political issues and the dynamics of conflicts that occur in the international arena.

Building diplomacy and military cooperation with other countries, according to Agus, is the right step for the TNI to strengthen security stability in the region.

Agus stated that Indonesia's status as a non-stop country also made it easier for the TNI to work with other countries.

"It must continue to be based on active foreign political principles and national interests as the basis for the foundation of the defense strategy," said the TNI commander.

Although it is a non-block country that is not involved in any conflict and camp, the TNI Commander emphasized that the TNI must also anticipate the impact of foreign conflicts on national defense and security.

"The TNI is required to anticipate any global changes that have the potential to affect national stability," explained the commander.

Therefore, Agus hopes that all ranks of the TNI have the ability to diplomacy and read the right direction of foreign politics so that they can produce policies that are relevant to strengthening national defense.
