BOGOR Taman Safari Indonesia (TSI) is again holding a competition for photos and videos of international animals titled the 34th International Animal Photo & Video Competition (IAPVC). This year, the annual event carries the theme "The Picture of Nature "s Secret" and is officially launched in Enchanting Valley, Bogor Safari Park, Wednesday 18 June.
TSI's Commercial & Business Development Director, Hans Manansang, explained that this competition continues to adapt to the digital era, including adding a video category to reach a wider audience.
Visual content has proven to be 40 percent more effective in delivering conservation messages. IAPVC is a powerful creative and educational medium," Hans said.
The launch was also attended by the Deputy for Industry and Investment at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Rizki Handayani, who appreciated TSI's 34 years of consistency in combining visual arts with environmental conservation issues.
"This competition shows that visual works are not only artistic, but also have a social impact and have economic potential. The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy appreciates the Indonesian Safari Park which has been consistent for 34 years," said Rizki.
Meanwhile, TSI's Chief Marketing Officer, Alexander Zulkarnain, said the IAPVC was open to all groups, from professional photographers to students.
The competition is divided into several categories: general, video, 718 year old, and user-generated content (UGC). Targets this year: 10,000 participants and 30,000 works.
The main prize is in the form of hundreds of millions of rupiah in cash and support from sponsorship partners. However, according to Alexander, the main value of this competition is community participation in the preservation of animals and nature.
"Every work will be judged not only from a technical point of view, but also from the strength of the conservation message and storytelling," said Alexander.
This year, the IAPVC is also increasingly adaptive by presenting a video category following the increasing trend of visual content consumption.
