JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Wamendikdasmen), Atip Latipulhayat, stated that the implementation of the free private school policy cannot be implemented in 2025.
"It seems impossible to implement it for this year. We must coordinate and calculate carefully from the existing budget," said Atip when confirmed by ANTARA, Monday, June 16, 2025.
Even though it has not been implemented this year, the Ministry of Education is still trying to draw up concrete steps. Atip emphasized that his party is coordinating with a number of ministries and institutions, especially the Ministry of Finance, to finalize the concept of free private schools.

Previously, the Constitutional Court decided that both central and local governments must guarantee basic education without fees in public and private schools.
