Babel Police Secure 12 Kilograms Of Methamphetamine From Ships In Belinyu Waters Bangka

PANGKALPINANG - Directorate of Water and Air Police of the Bangka Belitung Islands Regional Police secured 12 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine from a ship in Belinyu Waters, Bangka Regency.

Bangka Belitung Islands Police Chief Inspector General Hendro Pandowo said the 12 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine were wrapped in 12 packages of foreign tea that were placed by the perpetrators in a cooler.

"The goods were successfully secured by officers while on patrol on May 21, 2025. When viewed from the location of the arrests in the waters of Belinyu, we suspect that the goods were sent from Riau or Malaysia," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, June 3.

The Kapolda strongly suspects that there is a pattern of smuggling of new organized methods, where dealers and buyers do not need to meet in person.

"This is not an ordinary case, the value of methamphetamine is estimated at IDR 5 billion. There are indications that large cross-provincial syndicates are playing," he said.

In this case, the Babel Police detained seven people and they are currently being investigated intensively by investigators. The Babel Police are committed to taking firm action against the perpetrators, including entangling multiple articles, ranging from the Narcotics Law, the Crime of Money Laundering (TPPU), to the Mineral and Coal Law for tin cases. "We will add articles of maximum penalty, including asset freeze. We will close all drug entry routes," he said.
