The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has installed 10 surveillance cameras (CCTV) to overcome the rise of illegal parking in the Tanah Abang area, Central Jakarta.
"The total is 10 CCTV installed in the Tanah Abang area this week," said Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) Syafrin Liputo, Thursday, May 22.
Syafrin explained that currently seven cameras are on, while the eighth camera is in the process of being installed. The remaining two units will follow soon.
The Tanah Abang area is known to be one of the points prone to illegal parking, and even illegal levies were found by parking attendants (jukir) at a rate of Rp. 6,000.
Responding to this, DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung emphasized that he would take firm action against all forms of violations. He highlighted that the enforcement of the rules had not been optimal for a long time.
"The action has been regulated in Regional Regulation Number 5 of 2014 concerning Transportation. However, the implementation has not been maximized," said Pramono.
In Article 62 Paragraph 3 of the Regional Regulation, motorized vehicles parked carelessly can be subject to action in the form of tire locking, assistants to official parking facilities, or even revocation of pentiles.
