JAKARTA - The Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung Wibowo, targets an increase in the number of public transportation users in the capital by five to 10 percent every year. This target is planned in line with local government efforts to encourage the shift of people from private vehicles to mass transportation.

According to Pramono, currently transportation connectivity in Jakarta has reached 91 percent, but the level of use of public transportation is only 21 percent.

"I want it to be increased by five to 10 percent of people using public transportation every year. What is continuous is not partial," said Pramono in the Dukuh Atas area, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, May 7.

To support this increase, Pramono has set a target for Jakarta to be included in the top 50 global cities by 2025. One of the indicators that are the focus is reducing congestion and pollution through increasing the use of public transportation.

The governor also routinely conducts direct evaluations of public transportation services every Wednesday, coinciding with the implementation of Governor's Instruction Number 6 of 2025 which requires ASN to use public transportation.

In today's activity, Pramono had a direct dialogue with Transjakarta users with disabilities. He asked about the obstacles experienced, especially related to accessibility.

"I asked how many times I moved (public transportation) and did I face difficulties. Indeed, not all things are disability-friendly, but these residents have moved three times and feel quite comfortable," he explained.

In order to answer the issue of accessibility, Pramono emphasized that he would continue to encourage bus stops in Jakarta to be more friendly for people with disabilities.

Since the enactment of the Ingub two weeks ago, Pramono has also claimed that State Civil Apparatus (ASN) within City Hall shows enthusiasm in using public transportation.

"So it is hoped that public transportation users in Jakarta will increase in the future," added Pramono.
