3 Perpetrators Of ATM Blocks At Rajagaluh Majalengka Gas Station Arrested

JABAR - Police arrested three perpetrators of the ATM mode crime that took action at a public gas station (SPBU) in Rajagaluh District, Majalengka Regency, West Java.

Head of the Majalengka Police Satreskrim AKP Ari Rinaldo said the three perpetrators with the initials F (43) and H (44) from Lampung, as well as HM (46) from Sumedang, were secured at a hotel in Majalengka without a fight.

"Today we have secured the three of them, after carrying out the action in the jurisdiction of the Majalengka Police," he said in Majalengka, Monday, March 24, which was confiscated by Antara.

He explained that this incident began when the victim was about to make transactions at an ATM machine in the gas station area on Tuesday, March 18. When entering the PIN, the perpetrator who stalked from behind memorized the number typed by the victim.

"Two perpetrators were already at the ATM, one inside and one outside. They directed the victim to another ATM which had been prepared with an ATM card stuck," he said.

He said the victim tried several times to enter the PIN but failed. One of the perpetrators then pressed the cancellation button, and the ATM card that came out did not belong to the victim, but the card that had been prepared beforehand.

Ari said the victim only realized that the ATM card was swapped when he reported it to the bank. However, at that time, the perpetrator had already drained the victim's account balance of Rp9.63 million using the PIN they memorized.

He added that the three perpetrators are specialists in ATM crime, and they have now been secured to the Majalengka Police Headquarters for further legal proceedings.

"We have now secured a number of evidences related to this case. We urge the public to be more vigilant when transacting at ATMs, especially in quiet locations," he said.
