JAKARTA - The United States government under President Donald Trump will not support the idea of deploying nuclear weapons to Eastern Europe, said Vice President JD Vance.

"I haven't spoken to the [US] President [Donald Trump] about that particular issue, but I would be surprised if he supports nuclear weapons that extend further east to Europe," Vice President Vance said in an interview with Fox News, as quoted by TASS March 14.

On that occasion, Vice President Vance criticized the approach taken by the previous US Government.

"You have people like (former US President) Joe Biden who are sleepy leading us into a nuclear conflict," said Vice President Vance.

"We need a cooler head to win, (including) on this Russia-Ukraine issue. The Biden Administration's strategy literally is to throw weapons into Ukraine, let Russia and Ukraine blood and hope somehow a settlement just appears," he continued.

"Donald Trump is involved in harsh diplomacy by involving his entire government to find out what Ukraine wants and needs? What do Russia wants? What do they need? Because war is stupid. The war will never start if he becomes president, and continuing the war will not benefit anyone," said Vice President Vance.

Earlier, in an interview with the Financial Times on March 13, Polish President Andrzej Duda urged the United States to deploy nuclear weapons in his country.

The Polish leader said he had discussed the matter with President Trump's special envoy to Ukraine and Russia Keith Kellogg. In his vision, President Trump was also able to move nuclear weapons from Western Europe or the United States to Poland.
