JAKARTA - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka asked the younger generation in Indonesia to be able to adapt and not be left behind in technological developments, including artificial intelligence (AI), but not to have dependence.
This was conveyed by Vice President Gibran while reviewing the activities of the Digital AI National Program at SMA Negeri 66 Jakarta, Cilandak, South Jakarta, Wednesday, organized by AICO, the largest Artificial Intelligence (AI) community in Indonesia.
"So the Indonesian (young) should not lose, we must adapt. The name AI will not replace humans," the Vice President told the students during his visit on Wednesday, March 12, as reported by ANTARA.
The visit was part of President Prabowo Subianto's administration's efforts to accelerate digital transformation in the education sector through the use of artificial intelligence.
SMAN 66 is one of the schools that has provided AI-based facilities. The Vice President reminded SMAN 66 Jakarta students to use this technology wisely.
According to Gibran, AI can help increase productivity and creativity, while sharpening students' abilities in solving problems in lessons.
However, he asked students not to rely fully on AI, while still studying the formulas taught by teachers in order to understand the concept of the problem as a whole.
Furthermore, the Vice President reminded that even though AI has extraordinary intelligence, this technology will not be able to replace the role of humans. However, those who are reluctant to learn and adapt to AI will be left behind by those who are able to take advantage of it.
"The name AI will not replace humans, but humans who don't want to use AI, who don't want to adapt, who don't want to develop, will be defeated by people who use AI," added the Vice President.

The vice president also advised AI not to be used to solve problems instantly without knowing the basic concept thoroughly. According to Gibran, AI only acts as a tool to understand concepts and build critical mindsets.
Ending his visit, the Vice President expressed his appreciation to SMAN 66 Jakarta which has paid more attention to the use of AI in the world of education.
"This is not for shortcuts, you still have to try and use the formulas (which are taught by the teachers)," said the Vice President.
