Saudi Arabia Launches Free Mobile Tahallul Car Service At The Grand Mosque

JAKARTA - The General Authority for the Maintenance of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque has launched a free first trial service for barbershops for pilgrims who have completed a series of worship and left Ihram at the Grand Mosque in Ramadan this year.

This initiative is part of a sustainable effort to improve services for pilgrims and improve the experience of Umrah.

This new service allows pilgrims to leave Ihram after completing the tahallul in five designated locations across the Marwa area, which can later move as needed when the number of worshipers reaches its highest density.

This service is managed by experienced personnel using fully sterile equipment, ensuring the provision of efficient services while maintaining the highest quality and safety standards.

This allows pilgrims not to bother walking long distances and queue to do tahallul at the Grand Mosque.

Hajj and Umrah specialist and researcher Mohammed Asiri said leaving Ihram after completing the Umrah pilgrimage was an important final step in completing Umrah, where pilgrims cut their hair after finishing Sa'i between Safa and Marwa.

"This practice follows the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, because the Prophet ordered his friends to shave or cut their hair after performing Umrah," said Asiri.

He added that men usually prefer to shave, while women only need to cut a small part of their hair.

It also symbolizes purification and renewal after worship and marks the end of the Ihram restriction which begins when the congregation enters Miqat.

Quoted from Himpuh, Ihram is a holy state that must be obeyed by every pilgrim and Umrah. There are two types of tahallul. First, tahallul asghar, the first stage marked by the death of part of the prohibition for the congregation. Second, tahallul Tsani, the last stage that was carried out after all the series of worship was completed. After tahallul, pilgrims were allowed to do things that were previously prohibited while in ihram.

"Get out of ihram worship is not just cutting or shaving hair, but a deep spiritual symbol about my body to the orders of Allah SWT and Sunnah Nabi," said Fahd Al-Hamidi, one of the congregation who used this service at the Grand Mosque.

"With modern solutions such as the mobile barbershop unit, this important last step for Umrah will be easier and more efficient for the congregation," he concluded.
