JAKARTA - Bhayangkara Tk I Hospital, Police Health Center (Polri Hospital) Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, has officially stopped the identification process of the bodies of victims of the Glodok Plaza fire, Taman Sari, West Jakarta.
Karodokpol Pusdokkes Polri, Brigadier General Nyoman Eddy Purnama Wirawan, announced this at a press conference at the Police Hospital, Wednesday, March 5.
"With the results of our maximum efforts, we declare that the operation of the Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) process is closed," he said.
According to Nyoman, the termination of the identification process is based on several factors. First, the process of searching for evidence at the scene has been stopped and there are no more shipments of evidence or body parts to the DVI post. Second, there is no additional ante mortem data from the victim's family who feels they have lost their family members in the fire. Third, all body parts and property found have been examined medically and in the laboratory.
However, Nyoman emphasized that if additional evidence or body parts were found in the future, the DVI team would again conduct an examination. "We are still ready to carry out further identification if there are new findings at the scene," he added.
In the process of evacuating and searching for victims, the National Police Hospital received a total of 16 body bags from the location of the fire. Of these, it is certain that the two bags do not contain human body parts after an examination by a forensic doctor and a forensic dentist.
