Bekasi City Floods, TNI AD Evacuates Victims And Builds Field Kitchens

BEKASI - The ranks of the Indonesian Army through Yonif 202/Tajimalela deployed troops to evacuate flood victims and build a field kitchen in the Bekasi area, Tuesday, March 4.

Danyonif 202/Tajimalela, Major Inf Dhabid Nurhadiansyah said his troops had been deployed to several points most affected by flooding in Bekasi.

"We are deploying two units at the Congregational Level (SST) at Pondok Gede Permai Housing, two SSTs in the Kemang Pratama sector, as well as two other SSTs at Kemang Housing, Bekasi. In the Kalimalang sector, we also set up a field kitchen to meet the food needs of the refugees," said Dhabid in an official press release from the Indonesian Army, Tuesday, March 4, which was confiscated by Antara.

Dhabid explained that the construction of the emergency kitchen was carried out so that flood victims would still receive proper food needs during the evacuation.

In addition to the emergency kitchen, continued Dhandid, TNI AD troops were also deployed to evacuate flood victims by rubber boat.

With the rubber boat, its personnel followed the flooded residential areas to evacuate residents trapped on the roof and on the second floor of their respective houses.

"The main priority at this time is to evacuate residents from houses that are still flooded, especially toddlers, the elderly, and other vulnerable groups," he said.

Not only that, Dhabid also ordered his troops to guard the houses of residents who were left behind when they fled.

Until now, said Dhandid, the evacuation process carried out by his party is still ongoing. Dhabid ensured that his party would continue to be on standby at several points to assist the residents' evacuation process.
