JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that most parts of Indonesia will experience rain on Wednesday, from light rain to rain accompanied by lightning.

BMKG forecaster Sekar Anggraeni said that light rain is predicted to occur in a number of big cities, such as Padang, West Sumatra; Pekanbaru, Riau; Jambi; Palembang, South Sumatra; Tanjung Pinang, Riau Islands; Serang, Banten; Bandung, West Java; Semarang, Central Java; Yogyakarta; Surabaya, East Java; and Denpasar, Bali.

Light rain is also predicted to flush Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan; Palu, Central Sulawesi; Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi; as well as in eastern Indonesia, such as Ternate, North Maluku; Sorong, Southwest Papua; Jayawijaya, Central Papua; and Jayapura, Papua," Sekar said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, February 19.

BMKG also warns of the potential for rain accompanied by lightning in several areas, such as Bengkulu; Bandar Lampung, Lampung; Jakarta; Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara; Tanjung Selor, North Kalimantan; Samarinda, East Kalimantan; Mamuju, West Sulawesi; Manado, North Sulawesi; as well as Ambon, Maluku, and Merauke, South Papua.

Meanwhile, several other areas are predicted to experience cloudy weather conditions, namely Medan, North Sumatra, while air escape is observed in Banda Aceh, Aceh; Pontianak, West Kalimantan; and Manokwari, West Papua.
