Prabowo Prepares Basic Infrastructure For 4 New Provinces In Papua

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that the development of Eastern Indonesia, especially in 4 new provinces of Papua, is one of the government's top priorities.

The main focus is directed at the transmigration and infrastructure sectors to open economic opportunities for the local community.

The four provinces are Central Papua, Mountains Papua, South Papua, and Southwest Papua. This was conveyed by the Coordinating Minister for Regional Infrastructure and Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), after a limited meeting with President Prabowo at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday 18 February.

AHY explained that the government is mapping transmigration and revitalization areas in various regions. President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that development in eastern Indonesia, especially 4 new provinces in Papua, will get special attention.

"The government will provide basic infrastructure, land, housing, and transportation to support regional development and create new economic opportunities for the community," said AHY.

In addition, AHY highlighted that the four provinces do not currently have a government center. Therefore, he asked the local government to immediately prepare land so that the construction of governor's offices, DPRD, and the Papuan People's Assembly (MRP) can be realized immediately.

"The provincial government (4 new provinces in Papua) is expected to immediately prepare land so that the central government, including the Ministry of Public Works (PU), can build a government center," he concluded.
