Minister Hanif Hopes Regional Heads Meet The Mandate Of Law No. 18/2008 On Waste Management

JAKARTA - Minister of Environment and Head of Environmental Control (LH/BPLH), Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, reviewed the management and handling of waste at SMAN 1 Sukaraja, Bogor Regency, Thursday, February 13.

During his visit, Minister of Environment/Head of BPLH Hanif Faisol also planted one of the food security trees, namely the Sukun Tree in the school environment which has won the Adiwiyata National level award.

On this occasion, Minister Hanif Faisol emphasized the importance of communication, information, and education to the younger generation regarding environmental issues.

"We have to do activities like this, because we entrust our ideas and ideas to the younger generation for environmental sustainability. It is very important to meet with young people, hopefully this will be useful for all," said Hanif Faisol Nurofiq in a written statement received by VOI, Thursday, February 13.

He also highlighted the urgency of waste management which is still a problem in many regions.

Currently, KLH/BPLH oversees 343 final processing sites (TPA) in Indonesia and is preparing firm steps to ensure waste management runs optimally at the regional level.

"We are taking an approach in handling waste throughout Indonesia. In the near future, the Government will encourage all Regents and Mayors to fulfill the mandate of Law Number 18 of 2008 concerning Waste Management," he said.

He hopes that this step can end unenvironmental practices and encourage Waste Care Culture to support Indonesia's vision of Gold 2045.

"Hopefully we can immediately end activities that are not waste-friendly and then trigger to develop a waste-friendly culture because Indonesia Gold must be supported like that," he explained.
