JAKARTA - The Delta Air Lines must cancel one of its flights, after the crew accidentally opened an emergency slide.

According to Delta, Flight Delta 419 flying from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport to Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu, Hawaii last month was canceled after crew mistakenly opened the emergency crash of the Boeing 767 aircraft.

The crew then ran out of time before the plane could be repaired.

"The 419 flight from Seattle to Honolulu was canceled due to damage to the plane before boarding the plane," a Delta spokesperson said, quoted by CNN on February 5.

"We apologize to customers for their experience, and we have accommodated customers on flights to their final destination today," the airline continued.

A passenger, who did not wish to be named, shared photos and informed CNN of the incident.

The passenger said a series of delays eventually led to a change of planes from the Boeing 757 to 767, resulting in a new seat assignment. The passengers said before boarding the plane, "they accidentally opened an emergency slide."

"At the time they said they would check if they had a replacement slide and after waiting another hour and a half, they told us they didn't have it and the flight was canceled," he added.

The passengers said they re-ordered tickets for Alaskan flights on Friday.

"I have to say that although this is very frustrating, gate officials are great at dealing with the very bad situation," the passenger said.
