10 Illegal Gold Miners With Suspect Status At Banten Police

BANTEN Banten Police have named 10 suspects in the case of Unlicensed Gold Miners (PETI) in Lebak Regency, Banten. Banten Police Chief, Inspector General Suyudi said the perpetrators carried out their actions in different locations, in Citorek Village, Neglasari Village, Kujang Jaya Village, Cibeber, Girimukti Village, Lebak Regency, Banten.

Suyudi explained that the perpetrators carried out their actions by processing rocks that contained gold, using the milling method with iron so that it became smooth.

Then soaked in a pond or large barrel for about 3 days. (Then) to separate or capture minerals containing gold, miners use CIL (Carbon in Leach) and cyanide techniques, then the process is continued with a bunching," he said.

Then, they also use generators to run gold miners' machines.

This activity lasts between 1 and 6 months, with the processing results sold to illegal collectors for Rp800,000 to Rp1,000,000 per gram. In one production, they can produce 8 to 10 grams of gold," he said.

The perpetrators were charged with Article 161 of Law Number 3 of 2020 concerning Amendments to Law Number 4 of 2009 Article 35 paragraph (3) letters C and letters G, Article 104, or Article 105 concerning Mineral and Coal Mining.

"As stipulated in Article 35 paragraph (3) letter C and letter G, Article 104, or Article 105, can be subject to a maximum imprisonment of 5 (five) years and a fine of up to Rp. 100 million," he concluded.
