KPK Believes That Paulus Tannos' Extradition Is Smooth Even Though Citizenship Has Changed

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) believes that the extradition of fugitives, Paulus Tanos, who was arrested in Singapore, will run smoothly. The change in nationality of the President Director of PT Sandipala Arthaputra will not affect this process.

"No (impact for citizenship change, ed) I think. Hopefully everything goes smoothly," said KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto to reporters at the Ministry of Law's office, South Jakarta, Friday, January 24.

Setyo said Singapore's security authorities made arrests. The KPK is currently focused on coordinating and completing the required files so that extradition can be carried out.

"Yes, then we will wait for the next process. Hopefully everything goes smoothly, we'll wait again," he said.

As previously reported, the KPK revealed that Paulus Tannos no longer holds Indonesian passports. As a result, they could not arrest the suspect in the alleged corruption of the Electronic KTP (e-KTP) procurement project even though they had found it in neighboring countries.

The corruption case in the procurement of e-KTP has cost the state up to IDR 2.3 trillion if it refers to the report of the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK).

This case dragged the names of a number of high-ranking officials in the ministry, such as former Director General of Dukcapil Irman and former official at the Ministry of Home Affairs Sugiharto. In addition, there is also the name of former DPR Speaker Setya Novanto, former member of Commission III of the DPR Hanura Faction, Miryam S Haryani, a former member of Commission III of the DPR Markus Nari.

Then the KPK again named four new suspects in the e-KTP case in August 2020. They are former members of Commission II of the DPR from the Hanura Party faction Miryam S Haryani, President Director of the Indonesian State Printing Corporation (PNRI) as well as Chairman of the PNRI Consortium Isnu Edhi Wijaya, Head of the Information Technology Technical Team for the Application of ID cards Husni Fahmi, and President Director of PT Sandipala Arthaputra, Paulus Tanos.
