Titiek Suharto Congratulates Megawati's Anniversary, Welcoming Positive If We Meet Prabowo

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Gerindra Party Board of Trustees, Siti Hediati Hariyadi or Titiek Suharto, congratulated the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia Megawati Soekarnoputri, who today is 78 years old.

"Happy birthday to Mrs. Megawati Soekarnoputri, I hope you are healthy and always in the protection of Allah," said Titiek at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, January 23.

"Today is Megawati's 78th birthday and on the same day, my sister, Ms. Tutut,'s 76th birthday. Good health and happiness," he continued.

Titiek then commented on the news of the meeting between Megawati and President Prabowo Subianto at today's anniversary celebration. The mother of Prabowo's single son welcomed the two of them when they met.

"I only heard from the media that I wanted to have a meeting. Of course (response) was positive, his name was a national figure when he met him, so he was cool," said the chairman of Commission IV of the DPR.

Previously, the chairman of the DPR and chairman of the PDIP DPP, Puan Maharani, said that Megawati's anniversary celebration would be held simply on Thursday, January 23 at her residence in Teuku Umar, Central Jakarta. No political party figures were invited, he said, the event would only be attended by the family.

"The plan is, God willing, the birthday will only be limited to family. Meanwhile, because it is still just the new year, we are also working at the DPR, the government is also working, so it's simple," said the chairman of the DPR at the Parliament Complex, Tuesday, January 21.

However, when it was emphasized whether Megawati and Prabowo's meeting would be realized at the anniversary celebration, Puan was reluctant to confirm. According to him, meetings do not only talk about politics.

"God willing," said Puan.

"Meetings do not need to continue to have political affairs, they can also stay in touch," he concluded.
