JAKARTA - Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Province Teguh Setyabudi said that many Kemayoran fire survivors were reluctant to be relocated to the nearest flat (rusun).

Teguh explained that some residents chose to flee to the Central Jakarta Metro Police, which of course could not continue to be there because it was a place of public service.

Nevertheless, Teguh explained that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) could not do this. This is because the land is not an asset belonging to the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.

Regarding aid, Teguh explained that the needs of children's schools such as clothes, bags, shoes, books and so on will be distributed no later than tomorrow.

On the other hand, Acting Head of the DKI Jakarta Gulkarmat Service, Satriadi Gunawan, said that his party did not yet know the cause of the fire that occurred in the densely populated settlement of Kemayoran Gempol, Central Jakarta, occurred on Tuesday at around 01.15 WIB.

It is known that the incident scorched more than 500 houses from 11 RTs in that location, causing as many as 1,700 people from 607 family cards (KK) to flee to safer places such as prayer rooms and mosques.
